I’m certified and specialized in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Working with individual patients and families.
CBT is a short term, focused and effective therapy that provides practical tools for dealing with day to day struggles. You will leave therapy with combined CBT and mindfulness techniques to help you get out of the spiral of stress that is keeping you from living your life to the fullest.
CBT for Adults
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the more effective types of talk therapy.
CBT is used to treat a wide range of difficulties:
-
Depression
-
Panic Attacks
-
General Anxiety disorder
-
Social anxiety
-
Testing anxiety
-
Health anxiety
-
Phobias
My approach uses CBT to help you:
-
Manage symptoms of emotional distress
-
Gain Assertiveness and active communication skills
-
Learn Relaxation and mindfulness techniques
-
Cope with stressful life events
-
Problem solve through issues
-
Manage procrastination
-
Raise self-esteem
How does it all work?
CBT believes our thoughts, emotions and behaviours are all connected. The way to feel better is to target and change an individual's existing negative thinking and non-helpful coping mechanisms. In its place, you learn to think more clearly and behave accordingly when faced with difficulties.
Why is it so effective?
because there is a start and a finishing date. You leave therapy with tools to cope on your own with life's struggles.
What happens in the therapy room?
Patients meet once a week for an hour long session. Each session is structured and patient-focused leading to quicker results.
It all starts with our thoughts, once you change your thoughts you change your life...
CBT for Kids
I’m trained and certified in the “cool kids programme” (est. by Prof. Ron Rappee, 1995).
Using CBT techniques to help parents and children cope better with:
-
Social Anxiety
-
Bullying
-
Depression
-
Separation anxiety
-
Sleep Anxiety
-
General Anxiety
-
Testing Anxiety
-
Health Anxiety
-
Panic Attacks
-
Phobias
-
Low-self esteem
The Program helps children and parents learn and practice:
-
Assertiveness and effective communication skills
-
Relaxation and mindfulness techniques
-
Managing and expressing emotions
-
Tools to cope with anxiety and depression
-
Build a stronger family unit
-
Manage social situations
The goal of the program is two-fold:
-
teach the child to change his/her thoughts surrounding their difficulties in order to respond in a more effective way.
-
Identify and change how the parents’ thoughts and reactions are interacting with the child’s difficulty.
By accomplishing both goals the child’s new coping skills will be supported and effective long after the therapy is completed.
How it works?
The average process takes only 12 sessions. Both child and parent are present in the therapy allowing the tools taught to be applied and absorbed at home and in the child’s everyday life.
Why it works?
This therapy differs from others because the parent and child are viewed as a single unit, therefore, creating effective results that live beyond the therapy room.
A Little About Me..
I was born and raised in Canada and made aliya in 2010. During my first few years in Israel I received my Bachelor's in Psychology from IDC Herzliya.
I was able to cultivate my passion for helping others by interning at ENOSH (Israeli Mental Health Association) in one of the English speaking social support groups.
Afterwards I worked as a rehabilitation counselor at Beit Ekstein helping adults with special needs enter the workplace.
In between I got married and became a mother of two.
Now...
I've decided to focus and specialize my training from groups to helping individuals by being certified by Wingate college as a low intensity cognitive behavioural therapist. I've also been certified in "cool Kids Programme" which brings the world of CBT to families coping with children and teenage anxiety and depression.
I use an integrated approach that combines CBT, mindfulness, assertiveness and problem solving training to provide patients with the tools necessary to deal with life's difficulties. My goal is to provide an open and safe place to express your issues and emotions while also giving you the confidence to leave the therapy room with proven techniques to cope.
